On Valentine’s Day this year (pure coincidence, I’m sure), the Louth task was finished. Dundalk had been excluded from the task, because it had had its own task previously.

The task had been opened on the 12th of November 2024, so it took only about three months to complete. To be fair, quite a few buildings had already been mapped in the area previously.

The task had 5 contributors: b-unicycling, jonnymccullagh, Jonako, DeBigC and snoozingnewt.

Thanks very much to them!

And now for some statistics:

History stuff

Three potential newly discovered archaeological sites were reported to the National Monuments Service, two of which were confirmed. The first is a rather large enclosure in the townland of Stickillin (53.862464, -6.493472), the other a ringfort in the townland of Chanonrock (53.980270, -6.553602). The third was a potential fulacht fia which needs to be investigated on the ground, before it can be dismissed or confirmed.
